Learning
We affirm the power of Jewish learning to create and deepen Jewish identity and commitment. Lifelong Jewish learning—from childhood through adulthood—brings Jewish values to our daily lives, nurtures spiritual experiences, and both anchors and challenges us to reach out to a world in need.
Educational programming at Temple Israel offers opportunities for congregants to engage in a journey of learning and spiritual growth. Members of all ages are challenged to think, question and contribute creatively to our common journey.
Early Childhood Education. Our Tot Shabbat program gets even our littlest members involved through prayer, music and stories!
Youth Education. Our Religious School program offers diverse and inclusive programming that engages learners in the cycle of Jewish life, Torah, social justice, Hebrew, Jewish history, current events and so much more. For students grade TK through 7th.
Temple Teens. We are proud to begin our Temple Teen program, led by our School Director, Dr. Jenn Levine. Our teen program activities are a combination of volunteering and social events. Temple Israel is a safe space for teens across the East Bay to explore Judaism and gather with other Jewish teens. We participate in local NFTY events.
Adult Education. Learning is the raising of character by the broadening of vision and the deepening of feeling. —Mayer Sulzberge
Family Education We believe that communities grow and thrive when the whole family is engaged in learning together and parents and caregivers have a voice in the organizations that serve them. Our Family school is held quarterly and focuses on Jewish Holidays, parenting, and connecting to Judaism as a family.
