Hebrew School FAQ
Temple Israel Hebrew School FAQ
What is the grade range for Hebrew School students?
Our Hebrew school is designed for students from 4th grade through completion of a B’Nei Mitzvah. We have classes and curricula for students of all levels.
What are the school hours?
Our classes are held on Sundays from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm directly following the end of Religious School.
What is the teacher-to-student ratio?
We maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio to ensure personalized attention and a supportive learning environment. Typically, our ratio is 1 teacher for every 8-10 students.
Curriculum and Learning
What subjects are taught at Hebrew school?
Our curriculum centers around the Hebrew language, focusing on reading fluency and basic conversational skills. Students learn to read and write Hebrew letters to become proficient at decoding Hebrew words, learn key vocabulary, and learn to read and lead prayers with fluency. Our goal is for students to have fun in an inclusive and supportive environment while learning the language.
Do you offer Hebrew language instruction for all levels?
Yes, we offer Hebrew language instruction for beginners through advanced students. Our classes are tailored to meet the needs of each student's proficiency level. We recognize that students come from different backgrounds and students can join the class that best suits their current proficiency level regardless of age/grade. (Students with prior Hebrew can request an assessment to determine the appropriate class.)
