A House of Prayer

To participate in regular Friday evening Shabbat services at Temple Israel (held at 7:30 PM) is to experience the Sabbath as a time of rest and renewal. After services we break bread and share Oneg Shabbat treats provided by Temple members.

"Friday Night Chai" will become our regular Friday night Shabbat service on the second Friday of each month.  This is a Shabbat musical service conducted by the Cantor and featuring guest performers from all over.  Expect Klezmer, folk, rock and other musical shabbatot  Do you want to play?  Tell the Cantor.  It is LOTS of fun!!

On the last Sunday of each month we have a Minyan and Bagel Breakfast.

On the third Friday of every month at 6:30 pm we have a temple potluck dinner before services.  Temple members and guests and share dinner in a convivial atmosphere in our temple social hall.  Bring drinks for your family and a salad, appetizer, or entree (enough for 6).

ONGAI

Ongai Shabbat are an important part of Temple Israel communitylife. They are a warm tradition following Friday evening services and afford a hospitable setting for Temple members to socialize.

Ongai are sponsored by Temple members to commemorate birthdays, anniversaries, bar and bat mitzvahs, or for no particular reason other than to contribute to the congregation.

So, choose a Friday night to sponsor an Oneg by using the sign-up calendar in the Temple lobby or by calling or emailing the Temple office. Consider joining with another family, or several families, to co-sponsor together - it is a lot of fun and it shares the work. If you are not a baker, Sisterhood is available to cater an Oneg for you.

Monthly Minyan and Bagel Breakfast

Did you know that on the last Sunday morning of each month we gather in the synagogue for a beautiful service? After our minyan we retire to the Rabbi Gunther G. Gates Social Hall for bagels and lox, juice and coffee. You are invited to join us.

We are seeking sponsors for our Minyan and Bagel Breakfast. Please call the Temple office or Mary Garmo if you would like to share in this mitzvah by sponsoring one of the monthly bagel breakfasts.
