The Jewish Outreach Institute (JOI) is the only independent,
non-denominational, national organization working to create a more welcoming
Jewish community for intermarried families.
Much of JOI’s work is done on the institutional level, with synagogues,
JCCs, federations, educators, rabbis, and the like, to create outreach programs
and train professionals to be more inclusive.
But JOI also works directly with intermarried couples themselves.
JOI’s free quarterly newsletter gives voice to the struggles
intermarried families may experience and also presents Jewish themes and the
Jewish community in a more welcoming light, to offer continued support for
Jewish choices. JOI also provides
occasional free giveaways (like an interactive dreidel CD-ROM); additional
literature such as booklets and reports; a helpful website at www.JOI.org
; and
direct one-on-one support via telephone, email, or in person. JOI's Executive
Director, Rabbi Kerry Olitzky, can be reached at 212-760-1440 or KOlitzky@joi.org. JOI is not a
membership organization and does not solicit membership fees from the
intermarried families it serves.
