Committees are a vital part of Temple Israel, providing services and enriching the Temple family.

Adult Education

Our adult education committee works with programs and clergy to present worthwhile educational programs fro adults; from torah study to interfaith issues discussion.

Bulletin

A monthly publication sent out to the membership.  Articles and notices are also reproduced on our website.

Building

Responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of the building and grounds
Choir The Temple Israel choir provides music for the High Holiday Services.  Choir members do not necessarily have musical backgrounds or experience
Dues Responsible for receiving and acting on requests for dues relief, or other matters relating to membership dues.

Library

We have a very good library of books relating to Judaism, education and Jewish issues.  We have a good selection of children's and young adult books as well.

Membership

Our membership committee reviews applications for membership and 

Personnel

The personnel committee meets to negotiate contracts, and other matters relating to staff and employees.

Program

One of our most active committees, the program committee develops and implements our wide array of programs of general interest; from speakers and films, to our participation in the Mayor's July 4th Parade.

Rabbi Liaison

Works with our rabbi to insure good communications.

Religious School (Education)

Our religious school runs from kindergarten through 7th grade, and our post b'nai-mitzva Amitim class 

Ritual (Religious Practices)

The Ritual Committee works with our clergy to help insure our worship experience is meaningful.

Scrip

Safeway, Albertsons, and a host of other community businesses return a portion of our members' purchase costs to the temple.  Click here for details on the program

Social Action

This committee gets involved in the community by hosting and co-hosting events and activities for non-profit organizations.  We have participated with such organizations as The Alameda Emergency Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and the Alameda Women's Shelter.  Want to express "Tikun Olam?" Here is where the rubber meets the road.

Bikkur Cholim

Members taking care of members: visiting the sick or homebound, arranging rides for members with no transportation, keeping in touch.  It's the little things that count.

UAHC Rep

The Union Of American Hebrew Congregations is the national body of reform congregations representing congregations throughout the USA.
